Samuel Rosa was born in Belo Horizonte and founded Skank in 1991, alongside Henrique Portugal, Lelo Zaneti and Haroldo Ferretti. As singer, guitarist and main songwriter, he led the band through albums such as Calango, O Samba Poconé and Maquinarama, which brought reggae, ska and pop into Brazilian rock. Skank ended in 2023, after a farewell tour. The following year, Rosa released his first solo album, Rosa.
