Ry Cooder

Ry Cooder was born in Los Angeles and began working as a session musician at a young age, playing guitar on other artists’ recordings. His first solo records, released from 1970 on, moved through blues, folk and American roots music.

He also composed film scores, among them Wim Wenders’s Paris, Texas. In 1997, he produced and played on Buena Vista Social Club, a project that brought Cuban musicians to an international audience.
