Roger McGuinn was born in Chicago and rose to prominence as leader of the Byrds, a band that brought folk and rock together with Bob Dylan covers and original songs. His 12-string Rickenbacker guitar defined recordings such as “Mr.
Tambourine Man” and “Turn! Turn! Turn!”. After successive lineup changes, the Byrds split up in 1973. McGuinn went solo, released albums such as Cardiff Rose and, decades later, toured the United States with shows that combined songs and stories from his career.
