Pixies

Pixies invented a grammar that seemed broken before it was ever taught: whisper and explosion, mangled surf, cheap science fiction and cartoon violence. Between Surfer Rosa and Trompe le Monde, Black Francis, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago and David Lovering created a rock that would influence generations without ever sounding obedient.

The reunion brought new chapters, less seismic but still strange. The band remains a burst of radio noise from a planet that knows our bad jokes.

Why listen to Pixies?

Because no one has made the absurd sound so pop, so menacing and so immediately human.
