Montgomery Gentry

Montgomery Gentry emerged in Kentucky with Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry, who had already played together in local groups. After adopting the duo’s name, they signed with Columbia and released Tattoos & Scars in 1999, with “Hillbilly Shoes” among the first hits. The duo scored country hits throughout the 2000s. Troy Gentry died in a helicopter crash in 2017; Eddie Montgomery kept performing under the group’s name.
