Maria Teresa Madeira

Born in Lapa and raised in Nova Iguaçu, Maria Teresa Madeira began studying piano as a child through her mother's music school. Her discography includes more than 30 releases, notably recordings of Ernesto Nazareth that earned her a Latin Grammy nomination in 2003.

She has also devoted herself to the work of Chiquinha Gonzaga through recordings, research and the educational project Chiquinha Gonzaga para Todos. She holds a doctorate in Music and teaches at Unirio.
