Marcelo D2

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo D2 rose to prominence as singer and co-founder of Planet Hemp, a group that made its recording debut with Usuário in 1995. In parallel, he released Eu Tiro É Onda, his first solo album, in 1998.

À Procura da Batida Perfeita, from 2003, brought rap closer to elements of samba; that exploration continued on Meu Samba É Assim and on the tribute Marcelo D2 Canta Bezerra da Silva.
