Lulu Santos was born in Rio de Janeiro and began his solo career in 1982, after playing in the progressive rock band Vímana. The debut record, Tempos Modernos, opened a run of albums that crossed pop, rock and Brazilian music.
In the 1990s, he moved toward dance music in work with DJ Memê, such as Assim Caminha a Humanidade and Eu e Memê, Memê e Eu. He kept releasing records and touring, among them Atemporal, from 2024.
