Judy Collins was born in Seattle and began her career as a folk singer in the early 1960s, after studying classical piano. Her debut album, A Maid of Constant Sorrow, came out in 1961; Wildflowers, from 1967, included her recording of Joni Mitchell's “Both Sides Now”.
In 1975, she released Stephen Sondheim's “Send in the Clowns”, which became another landmark in her discography. Collins kept recording, writing and performing for decades.
