Jorge Drexler is a doctor by training and a songwriter by vocation. Born in Montevideo, he moved to Spain in 1995 and built a body of work that brings together candombe, milonga, pop, subtle electronics and lyrics of rare intelligence about science, identity and chance.
With “Al Otro Lado del Río”, he became the first Uruguayan to win an Oscar. Eco, 12 Segundos de Oscuridad and Tinta y Tiempo show a songwriter who thinks of the song as both experiment and embrace.
