John Denver

Born in Roswell, New Mexico, John Denver started out in folk groups, among them the Chad Mitchell Trio, before going solo in the late 1960s. Poems, Prayers & Promises, Rocky Mountain High and Back Home Again cemented his success in the 1970s, with songs like “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and “Annie’s Song”. He kept recording and performing until he died in a plane crash in 1997.
