Joe Bonamassa made blues-rock a craft of constant combustion, treating it neither as a museum nor as a bar-band fantasy. A guitar prodigy from an early age, he built an enormous discography from 2000 on, alternating reverence for the old masters, hard rock muscle and an almost industrial discipline in the studio and on the road.
His strength lies less in pyrotechnics than in the way he makes every solo sound like an urgent conversation between tradition, amplifier and nerve.
A guitarist who makes the blues past grind like a living machine, never like a relic.
