James Ingram

Born in Akron, Ohio, James Ingram started out as a musician and backing singer in Los Angeles before catching Quincy Jones’s attention. His appearance on The Dude, from 1981, included “Just Once”; the following year, “Baby, Come to Me”, a duet with Patti Austin, topped the charts.

The solo album It’s Your Night and tracks such as “Yah Mo B There”, with Michael McDonald, established his career. He also wrote for other artists and for film. He died in 2019.
