Grupo de Percussão Ilé Àse Obalúwáiyé Jagun is associated with Ilé Àṣẹ Ọbalúwáiyé Jagun, a Candomblé temple founded in Duque de Caxias in 1978. Its contributions to recordings by Brazilian artists brought chants and percussion rooted in Afro-Brazilian traditions to audiences beyond the religious community.
In 2023, the group took part in the live recording Alcione 50 Anos, with Cântico para Xangô and Cântico para Iansã, released on CD and DVD.
