G3

G3 began in 1996 as a tour conceived by Joe Satriani, which that year brought together Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson. The format gave guitarists solo sets and closed the nights with collective jams.

Over the years, the lineup changed and included names such as John Petrucci, who took part in editions of the tour from 2001 on. The project carried on as a series of tours, with no fixed lineup.
