G.C. Cameron

George Curtis Cameron was born in McCall Creek, Mississippi, and moved to Detroit as a child. After serving in Vietnam, he joined the Spinners as lead vocalist and sang on “It’s a Shame”, produced by Stevie Wonder.

When the group left Motown, Cameron stayed with the label and started a solo career. “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday”, released in 1975 on the soundtrack of the film Cooley High, became his best-known solo recording.
