Fundo de Quintal

Fundo de Quintal emerged in 1980 from samba gatherings at the Cacique de Ramos carnival group in Rio de Janeiro. Beth Carvalho brought some of the members onto the album De Pé no Chão in 1978, before the group's debut with Samba é no Fundo do Quintal.

The group helped popularize instruments such as the tantã, repique de mão and banjo with a cavaquinho neck. Lineup changes marked decades of activity, and the group continued performing with new lineups.
