Eyehategod formed in New Orleans in 1988 and released In the Name of Suffering in 1990. Take as Needed for Pain (1993) and Dopesick (1996) solidified its blend of slow-dragging heaviness and hardcore. After a gap between albums, the band returned with Confederacy of Ruined Lives in 2000 and resumed releasing records in 2005.
Drummer Joe LaCaze's death in 2013 did not bring the group to an end, and it released A History of Nomadic Behavior in 2021.
