Doe Maar emerged in the Netherlands in 1978 around Ernst Jansz and Piet Dekker, with Jan Hendriks and Carel Copier. The group found its audience by combining ska, reggae and pop with Dutch-language lyrics. Skunk, from 1981, marked the turning point, followed by Doris Day en andere stukken and 4US. The band announced its end in 1984, reunited at different times and released Klaar in 2000.
