Common

Common was born in Chicago and debuted in 1992 with Can I Borrow a Dollar?, then using the name Common Sense. Resurrection cemented his place in 1990s hip-hop, and Like Water for Chocolate widened his audience in 2000.

In 2005, he released Be, produced in part by Kanye West; the album was nominated for a Grammy. Alongside music, Common built an acting career and won an Oscar for the song “Glory”, from the film Selma.
