Althaír & Alexandre

Althaír, initially known as Ataíde, arrived in Campinas in 1965 and sang in bars and restaurants. In 1978, he met Alexandre during a circus performance, and the two formed the duo Ataíde & Alexandre.

Their repertoire gained a foothold in sertanejo in the 1990s, with songs such as Laço Aberto and Eu Juro. Alexandre also stood out as a songwriter, with songs recorded by various artists in the genre; the duo later began using the name Althaír & Alexandre.
