Alceu Valença was born in São Bento do Una, in the agreste region of Pernambuco, and began recording in partnership with Geraldo Azevedo in the early 1970s. In 1974, he released his first solo album, Molhado de Suor. Coração Bobo, from 1980, widened his reach, and Cavalo de Pau, from 1982, featured hits such as “Tropicana”. His work brings northeastern Brazilian rhythms together with references from rock and urban music.
