The Carter Family

A Carter Family começou em 1927, em Maces Spring, na Virgínia, com A. P. Carter, Sara Carter e Maybelle Carter. As gravações feitas nas sessões de Bristol, no mesmo ano, incluíram “The Poor Orphan Child” e “Bury Me Under the Weeping Willow”; o grupo também popularizou canções como “Keep on the Sunny Side” e “Can the Circle Be Unbroken”. A formação original se desfez em 1943, e Maybelle continuou com as filhas.
