Virgínia Rosa

Born and raised in São Paulo, Virgínia Rosa sang with Grupo Lógica as a teenager and, in the 1980s, joined Itamar Assumpção's band Isca de Polícia. She later spent time in the group Mexe com Tudo and worked as a backing vocalist before releasing Batuque, her first solo record, in 1997.

The album earned her a Prêmio Sharp nomination for Breakthrough Female Singer. In 2015, she released Virgínia Rosa Canta Clara, dedicated to Clara Nunes's repertoire.
