Formed in Lapa, Rio de Janeiro, in the second half of the 1990s, Tira Poeira took its name from a choro by Sátiro Bilhar and its mission from shaking up the genre.
The quintet of Caio Márcio, Henry Lentino, Fábio Nin, Sérgio Krakowski and Samuel de Oliveira reinterprets Pixinguinha, Jacob do Bandolim and Ernesto Nazareth with jazz improvisation, harmonic daring and a contemporary pulse. Its recording debut came out in 2003, on Biscoito Fino.
