Renato Teixeira is one of the people responsible for bringing música caipira to the center of MPB without losing its rural simplicity. Born in Santos and raised in Taubaté, in the Vale do Paraíba, he wrote “Romaria”, immortalized by Elis Regina in 1977, and “Tocando em Frente”, with Almir Sater, which became an anthem of simple wisdom.
In encounters with Pena Branca & Xavantinho and Sérgio Reis, he built a bridge between the viola, urban song and the memory of the São Paulo countryside.
