The Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo, known as Osesp, gave its first concert in 1954 in the city of São Paulo. The institution encompasses the orchestra, a professional choir, chamber ensembles, a sheet music publisher, and educational activities. In 1997, it underwent a restructuring tied to the creation of Sala São Paulo, during which John Neschling took over as artistic director and Roberto Minczuk served as assistant conductor.
