Massive Attack emerged in Bristol in 1988, out of the scene around The Wild Bunch collective. The trio of Robert Del Naja, Grant Marshall and Andrew Vowles released Blue Lines in 1991, followed by Protection and Mezzanine, which took the group toward a darker sound.
Vowles left the band after that album; Marshall also stepped away for a time and returned in 2005. Heligoland, released in 2010, remains their latest studio album.
