George Benson was born in Pittsburgh, in the United States, and began playing professionally as a child. In the 1960s, he recorded jazz albums such as The New Boss Guitar and worked with musicians such as Miles Davis.
The move to Warner Bros. brought Breezin’, from 1976, which combined guitar and voice and reached a mass audience with “This Masquerade”. In 1980, Give Me the Night, produced by Quincy Jones, deepened his move toward pop and R&B.
