Denise Stoklos

An actress, writer and director born in Irati, Paraná, Denise Stoklos created Teatro Essencial, a language that strips the stage down to minimal resources and maximum presence of body, voice and word. She debuted in 1968 and gained international recognition with Mary Stuart, staged at La MaMa in New York in 1987.

She took her solo pieces to more than thirty countries and taught the method at New York University, bringing theater, poetry and performance together.
