Daniela Mercury

Daniela Mercury was born in Salvador and began her career singing in the city’s bars. Before going solo, she was part of the band Cheiro de Amor, sang backing vocals for Gilberto Gil and recorded with Companhia Clic.

“Swing da Cor”, her first solo album, came out in 1991; the following year, “O Canto da Cidade”, produced by Liminha, took her mix of axé, samba-reggae and pop to the whole country. She kept releasing albums and also working as a songwriter.
