Born in Rio de Janeiro, Dadi began his professional career at 18 as the bassist for Novos Baianos, with whom he played on Acabou Chorare. In 1976, he formed A Cor do Som with Armandinho, Ary Dias, Gustavo Schroeter and Mú Carvalho; the group released instrumental albums and gained prominence in the years that followed.
He later played in Barão Vermelho and backed Caetano Veloso, as well as recording and performing with various Brazilian music artists.
