Born in São Paulo, Cida Moreira began her artistic career in the 1970s, performing in theater and musicals. In 1981, she released Summertime, a live recording featuring jazz standards and a version of Chico Buarque's Geni e o Zepelim.
Abolerado blues followed in 1983, and the album Cida Moreira in 1986. Throughout her career, she combined her work as a singer and pianist with interpretations of repertoire by Chico Buarque, Arrigo Barnabé and other Brazilian composers.
