Altamiro Carrilho

Altamiro Carrilho was born in Santo Antônio de Pádua, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, in 1924. A flutist and composer, he began playing as a child and gained prominence with Bandinha de Altamiro Carrilho, while also accompanying singers and recording choro. Choros Imortais and Rio Antigo are among the defining albums in his discography. He remained active for decades and died in Rio de Janeiro in 2012.
