Alexandre Pires

Alexandre Pires was born in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, and began his career in Só Pra Contrariar, a pagode group he formed with his brother Fernando and friends in 1989. The 1997 album Só Pra Contrariar expanded the reach of the group, which also recorded in Spanish.

In 2002, Pires left SPC and pursued a solo career, debuting with Estrella Guia. He reunited with the group in 2013 for a tour celebrating its 25th anniversary.
