Adriana Calcanhotto left Porto Alegre with a guitar and a visual artist's eye: finely drawn songs in which word, silence and image carry equal weight. Since Enguiço, from 1990, she has moved through Senhas, A Fábrica do Poema, Maritmo and Maré, alternating the bright pop of “Mentiras” and “Vambora” with experiments in concrete poetry.
She also created the heteronym Partimpim for young audiences. A body of work that treats the song as an art object without losing its popular delicacy.
